3K a year 5 days ago 5 days ago 5 days ago Full Time, Variable shifts Dover / Milford, Delaware The Clinical Laboratory Scientist, under the direction of the laboratory director and supervision of the technical supervisor, provides day-to-day supervision of testing personnel and reporting of test results.
In the absence of the director and technical supervisor, the general supervisor is responsible for the proper performance of all laboratory procedures and reporting of test results.
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) is able to perform all laboratory procedures in a prompt, accurate, and reliable manner according to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist's responsibilities include validation of specimen identification and appropriateness of sample type and size and processing according to special handling protocols.
Assists with the evaluation of new instruments and products and with the writing of new procedures.
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist participates in the teaching of new employees and students, with documentation of training and competency.
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist may be assigned the duties of the charge tech, lead tech, or supervisor when necessary.

Minimum Education and Experience Must meet one of the followingCLIAdefined education requirements to qualify as testing personnel for high complexity testing (CLIA:

(1)Have earned a doctoral, master's or bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinicallaboratoryscience, or medical technology from anaccredited institution; (2)Have earned an associate degree in alaboratoryscience, or medicallaboratorytechnology from anaccredited institutionor - (ii)Have education and training equivalent to that specified inparagraph (2)(i)of this section that includes - (A)At least 60 semester hours, or equivalent, fromanaccredited institutionthat, at a minimum, include either - (1)24 semester hours of medicallaboratorytechnology courses; or (2)24 semester hours of science courses that include - (i)Six semester hours of chemistry; (ii)Six semester hours of biology; and (iii)Twelve semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medicallaboratorytechnology in any combination;
Experience:
None required for MLS/MT/CLSstaff; At least 2 years of experience in high complexity testing required forMLTstaff License / Certification:
MLS (ASCP), MT (ASCP), MT (AMT),CLS(NCA),MLT(ASCP) or equivalent certification within 12 months of hire date/promotion date Special Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Normal color perception Fluently speaks, reads and writes in the English language Strong learning and memory skills; ability to process verbal communications efficiently Ability to collect data, problem solve, establish facts, and draw conclusions Ability to perform under stress to when confronted with emergency or critical situations Ability to perform a variety of duties andmulti-task, without loss of efficiency or composure Ability to clearly communicate, present ideas, facts, and clinical information Ability to maintain interpersonal relationships, facilitating task accomplishments, cooperating and resolving conflicts, recognizing needs and being sensitive to others.
