The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within a assigned unit with a commitment to quality and safetyProfessional nursing practices, requiring specialized knowledge judgment and skill are performed using the process in accordance with hospital policy, procedures and nursing philosophyESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1Provide direct, professional nursing care to specified population of patients in the acute care setting2Develops a patient centered plan of care based on individualized needs3Maintains confidentiality of the patient medical record4Counsel and educate patients and their care partner on treatment plans5Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration6Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable7Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions, when appropriate8Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate 9Performs nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes10Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions11Demonstrates quality, safe and effective patient care12Provides delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff 13Demonstrates standards of excellence which includes practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity14Demonstrates understanding and executes quality and performance improvement plans(only for RN evaluation) 15Participates in decision making and takes actions based on ethical principles(only for RN evaluation) 16Provides timely and accurate documentation of patient care17All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilitiesREQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION AND CREDENTIAL:
Education Bachelor Degree Nursing Diploma Nursing - Within 36 months of hire, if not already obtained Nursing Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program/university Credential Registered Nurse Basic Life Support ACLS / PALS may be required per manager's direction and timeframe Commit to seeking specialty certification within time frame as indicated during interview
